RE: Any good spots along Colorado River in AZ

Following up on the above post La Paz County Parks. They have a fantastic RV park right on the CO river. Electric and water and dump station and monthly rates that are very good. Don't stay long as we may want to go there next year. HUGE park with lots to offer. We did stay a couple of days on our way to Quartzsite this year. Great golf course next door if you are into that kind of thing. La Paz County RV park

RE: Where do you invest your money?

MetLife has CDs ads in USA Today for many days now with 4.15% for balances of $15K or more. Go to metlifebank.com offer code: LUCY19 FDIC insured. I do not work for them. Retired and have all my money in 401K guaranteed interest and CDs. May look into them when my CDs expire next year.

RE: first time full timer here i need help with a few questions

Where do I start... You now have 30 watts of solar, you might need 320 watts of solar panels with a controller to do anything close to what you what to do. And a generator for night use also wouold be needed. Please contact a solar dealer and have them give you the facts on what you may need. If close to Quartzsite AZ call Discount Solar. The bottom line is you can't do much with 30 watts of solar except to trickle charge your bats.

RE: Passport America

We got a 1 year membership free when be bought our Hitchhiker by NuWa. Registered on line and they emailed a temporary card for right away use. Used it a few times heading south this year even at a KOA on US 66 in AZ.

RE: Fuel prices in Quartzsite, AZ

Diesel was $2.15 and Reg was $1.89 in Quartzsite today... We are here now and have done a blog for a few years about Q in our sig. Now thinking of more travel next summer as diesel just might drop below $2.

RE: Bought a Lifeline battery

I'm in Quartzsite now and Discount Solar has Interstate DCM100 12v 105 amp hours AGM bats for $189. So sorry I didn't wait abd buy from them. I did have them add some solar to my new rig. I got four of these bats in Iowa before we headed south (for our new 5er) for a discounted $256 each. Whoa is me. I have no interest in this company.

RE: Help Needed Quickly: New DirecTV Install Problem

I have DirecTV and a Sony 1080P.... The SD channels are goning to look as they say soft and not sharp as they did on an old tube TV. That's just the way it is... Go to CNET.com and read their atticles about all this and how to improve your TV picture.

RE: Economy Downturn

We wish well to all who are trying to sell and go fulltime. Five years ago we sold the house... and went fulltime. It took 8 months even back then and for a lot less when it sold in the middle of January while we were in TX for our first winter in the south. At that time moved all 401K stuff to guaranteed interest. Now it's still growing and so glad we did. We hope new people in power in DC will be able to help get America back on track and help turn things around so you can get on with your dreams and go fulltiming very soon.

RE: New Norcold 1200 with FL problem

It is the 1210SS Stainless Steal And the alarm light will go out if we wiggle the wire to the gas shutoff solenoid. The 15 amp fuse blew while were were using shore 120 AC. Replaced it in the 5er fuse box and has been OK.

RE: New Norcold 1200 with FL problem

To Doug this is in a slide and I have a flame and if I touch the selanoid it shuts down and shuts down the flame. The fans are running when this happens. When I get the FL code the flame is ON so I am still still cooling. Thanks for the replies

New Norcold 1200 with FL problem

I have a brand new 30 days old Norcold 1200SS unit and on LP get the FL light to come on several times a day. We are boondocking in AZ now for the winter. Not a NO FL just a FL blinking lite. Temp is at 5 and keeping everything very cold. Have temp gauge in the fridge. The pilot is lighting the gas and have flame, fans are running, when the FL alarm light comes on. Shut down and wait a min and restart and OK again. Alarms 2-3 times a day or once 5 times one night. Now today all morning no failure yet. The first day we got the new 5er the fridge 15 amp supply fuse blew. Been ok since. Service center will have a person to come to us later this month. We are in Quartzsite and their repair person has not come to town for the winter season yet.

RE: 4 Season Fifth Wheels

Go to the HitchHiker www.nuwa.com and read it in detail. You will be educated as to why they produce a great unit. We are on our second one and fulltime in it.

RE: Heading for Q

It is now Nov 8 and the weather couldn't be any better. Highs in the high 70s t o mid 80s and lows low to mid 50s. How much bettr than that. And calm winds under 10 mph... Now late Oct it was still HOT but Nov is the time to be here in Q Where as they say In Q Every Day is a Weekend! Now if you think January is warm think again this is the desert. Nice when ths sun shines and as soon as it goes down it gets COLD. Come on down plenty of room for all.

RE: BLM LTVA Fees

We are in the La Posa North BLM just south of Quartzsite and the fees are the same as last year. $180 for the season and $40 for two weeks. Compared to the cost of living many places not bad for the entire winter season 5-6 months for $180 which includes water and a dump station. And you can move from BLM to BLM like stay in Q and later move to the Yuma area or on into CA. Your sticker is good at all Long Term Visitor Areas. The funny thing is we spent thousands for solar (340 watts) and a Honda 3000 gen. unit and then an 2000 watt inverter/converter. Just to stay in the BLM. BUT the reason is we can do our own thing and NOT be packed in side by side with others in an RV park. The cost is about the same paying for gas to run the generator at night as paying up to electic rates of .18 cents a Kilowatt in an RV park. But the freedom is the selling point. To each their own as to where they want to park their RV and enjoy life in the great southwest in the winter season.

RE: Electric Fireplace

Ours came with trailer, we've used it to heat it couple times, works nice. And the fake fire is kind of relaxing to watch. Most people we show it to like it :). If you like your inside electric fireplace go for it. But it just seems to me on my new ordered NuWa 5er the option is listed at $858 Yes $858. I'm sure like some of you went out and got an after market unit for less. My thought as a fulltimer who boondocks, if I want a fire I will go outside a light one. And when boondocking if I anted to run a electric one I would have to have to run my generator. That's kind of nuts. I have a big battery bank with solar but they would drain if powering an electric anything. Now for you who ONLY stay in RV parks with electric hookups this might be the fun way to go. This way you can at least see a fake fire. Is this what you went fulltiming for? Now of you are in a monthly site RV park that meters your electric usage good luck.)
